Plus the sheer amount of talent that has passed thru and is still in SM. Take NCT for instance. They aren't exactly my style but you can't deny how many super talented members there are - and that's just one of SM's groups.

They did lots of things but long gone the iconic Sm. Their last actions are like amateurs like early released mvs, stock problems,music quality in general. They have been worse and worse in terms of management and production quality.

The MV reminds me of NCT127’s Limitless MV and I can see how SM never lets go of his past self even when it has started being futuristic considering it’s two recent groups are literally about Neo Culture Technology & digital avatars (æ)! Although Seo Taiji and Boys are the blueprint for the K-pop sound and image, it was Lee Sooman (SM) who pioneered the idol system in Korea, and here is SM's first idol group H.O.T. (Highfive of Teenagers) debuting in 1996.

It's just so fitting that this remastering project kicks off with h.o.t., the first KPop Idol Group, and their debut song "Warriors' Descendants". It's not my cup of tea but the message of the song is just poignant and still very relevant today. My son was a victim of bullying, I was a victim of bullying, too, so this hits home.

By the way, for any newer fans to H.O.T., this track was written by Yoo Youngjin. The guy who in 2021 alone wrote or produced songs like Sticker, Hot Sauce, Next Level and Savage (not to mention a gazillion other hits over the years like Tempo, Bad Boy, I Got A Boy, Lucifer, Ring Ding Dong, Genie, etc) has been writing hits for SM for *25 years*.

actually, after surfing Yoo Young Jin's Wiki, I really admire and respect him. I can't imagine a middle-aged man can make contemporary music like hot sauce, savage, Next level, and all of the songs that I like when I was a child: I'm your girl and Twilight Zone of S.E.S, ID peace B and Girls on Top of BoA, Wild Eyes and Perfect Man of Shinhwa (we watched beautiful covers of Infinite and BTS that makes me love the songs more) Rising Sun and O of DBSK, Go of NCT Dream and Simon Says of NCT 127 and many more... I really cant imagine how ready-to-upgrade he is to make all those masterpieces.. speechless. he is my real role model

생각해보면 1세대들때 소속사도 멤버들도 뭔가 기존에 없었던 아이돌 문화를 만들어가던 때라 뭔가 정처없고 짧았던 것 같아서 아깝다는 생각이 든다. 한참 해외 반응 올때 해체 안하고 이어갔다면 어땠을까도 상상해보고 또 26년전 뮤비를 보고 예전처럼 노래를 흥얼거리며 추억해볼수 있다는 것에 고맙다.

Technically, it’s Seo Taiji and Boys as father of K-pop. SM artists have been very important in the development of K-pop as a worldwide genre, though.

@@TheresaTV1 the term ‘K-Pop & Idol ‘ were introduced by Lee Soo Man .. He created K-Pop and debuted the first Idol Boy group and first idol girl group .. So I think first gen sm artists and SM itself deserve all the credit… especially H.O.T as they are the first ever idol to debut under the term K-pop.(credits only K-pop and idols). But musical groups and korean artists before them are respected and thet deserve all the credits for what they started and contributed in the korean music industry.. but they were there before the term kpop and idols were introduced . So I see them(artists like seo &the boys ) like they’re the previous chapter... and K-pop idols as the newer chapter 😊

I really appreciate how they used back then actual elements of hip-hop and mixed with their own culture. This's really great to see on popular music, people mixing their styles and praising each other. And I'm glad that SM entertainment is around. They're the real masters of modern day Korean popular music, everything they do eventually become a trend or it's on people common sense of quality.

This really surprises me that K-Pop song used to talk about social issues, politics, culture and Asian Financial Crisis before it became trend and released a lot of sensational, flashy, colorful very upbeat, danceable and catchy with beautiful faces but meaningless and superficial lyrics that rarely make me feel connected personally and doesn't much teach me about life. But i give Rose : On the ground as an exception.

In my opinion I believe that what Sm has brought to the table has been brilliant & far surpasses and I know it's a controversial comparison, But lets say ...Anything BTS has come out with this year... I just feel as though their music is so westernised & overrated at this point where I can no longer enjoy their music like I used to. By all means Feel free to disagree that's just how I feel.

Kpop 시초는 SM이 열었다는거. 몇십년이 지나서 다시봐도 다시들어도 전혀 촌스럽지 않다는게 놀랍다. SM은 항상 미래를 내다보는것 같음. 노래 들어보면 에스파 노래처럼 중간에 갑자기 전조되서 분위기 확 바뀜.

I really need SM to come up with a boy group and girl group with this vibe, talking about real issues, that happen in real life and affect real people, without censorship and without fear to show blood and polemical stuff in the MV. Don't get me wrong, I love cool refined and handsome idols, I also like romantic and party songs, but like....there has been only this for so many years.... It would be amazing for fans to be able to receive the best of both types of artists from the same company they already love and are always checking up on.

Actually Seo Taiji & and the boys (with YG himself being one of the members) are the reason we have Kpop today. They’re the ones who introduced hip hop to Korea as a group, which then brought the rise of Kpop in 1991/1992. SM just extended on that.

@@svetlanawotton8517 thats not entirely true. Seo Taiji and the Boys did introduce popular music in Korea - where ballads and trot are the most popular songs at that time. But SM pioneered the idol system, therefore H.O.T is considered the first idol group.

I like the fact that, people comment about H.O.T in a way. To appreciate them for being “LEGENDS” and paving the way for the idols now etc. Instead of just appreciating their music and the fact that H.O.T is even a thing.

I love that they did this, and hope they do it to more of their older artists MVs because the songs are still great and every time I try to watch the videos from around the 90’s the amount of degrading the videos have already done is just sad, and these are the groups that made SM, so they deserve it

omg the first ever K-Pop group that invented the "fandom" system that has been used for generations until now 🥲 SM really paved the way for A LOT of things and systems. Even though "that" company stans bashes SM and their idols for not "paving the way" to international success (like grammy 😌), well we and the others along with the industry experts know who is the one who paved the way from 1st generation idols until now 😏 SM has a lot of artists who are successful and they definitely not only has one group who has done that but ALL OF THEM from H.O.T until now aespa and not a lot of company can do that 😋

I hope they do Hope, Outside Castle, and We are the Future! H.O.T were ridiculously popular and they used that popularity to talk about so many societal issues in their songs! More newer K-pop fans should be educated that this has been a thing from the beginning!
