I checked out the original song by Seo Taiji, it's great and I gained more appreciation for how well they injected the aespa essence into this remake. The 1:33 switch up done in a 'Beat Drop'-esque manner; the production incorporating aespa's signature industrial metallic sounds in the verses. And of course one of the keys of their musical identity, the vocal performances - I hear it the most at 1:58 - 2:22, between Giselle and Karina's edgy talk-singing rap and the familiar, very passionate high notes and adlibs by Winter and Ningning. This is a great remake that's not just a reproduction of an original song with a different singing voice, like a lot of other Kpop remakes

리메이크가 잘됐네 ㄹㅇ 적당히 락스럽고 적당히 힙하고 뭔가 잘 버무려서 잘 만들어놨네 원곡이 반항적이고 정신없이 달리는 느낌이라면 이 곡은 약간 중간중간 쉼표가 있는 느낌이구만

Winter's voice at 02:42 gives me goosebumps. Like, she was born to be a soloist 😭👑👑👑 BTW, all the girls did super well. I think KarSelle are the best rappers in 4th gen kpop(other than Soyeon) and Ningning is an all-rounder queen, she is bias wrecking me so hard 🧚

I imagine it’s the same for those from Seo Taiji’s generation when they listen to the OG version today. This remake will now be iconic for this generation. 서태지의 시대유감과 에스파의 시대유감은 담고 있는 메세지와 곡해석이 다른 것같음 서태지의 시대유감은 기성세대들에 대한 비판과 바뀌지 않는 시대에 대한 비관 담았다면 에스파의 시대유감은 불안한 사회에서도 딛고 일어나 꿈과 미래에 대해 응원하는 희망을 담은 것 같음 서태지도 이런 곡 해석이 신선하게 다가와서 리메이크를 허락해 주지 않았을까 함
