When it comes to rnb, red velvet understood the assignments 100%. Like ngl there are great rnb kpop groups but red velvet they are untouchable when it comes to rnb. Their vocals and instruments just blends so well together like broooooooooooo. And especially wendy’s voice is more built for western/rnb style, just makes all their songs 100x better. Like the queen of RnB goes to RED VELVET.

someone told me once that Red Velvet was debuting as a dual concept artist. "Red" was going to be their bubbly poppy side a la Happiness or Dumb Dumb, while "Velvet" was going to be the more mature side like this, Be Natural or even Bad Boy. But as I look at their more recent songs, I think they blended the two concepts into one and while I appreciate the smooth transition and growth, I personally LOVED the "Velvet" concepts and hope they get to come back with this look/sound as an A-side in the future.

I keep on seeing comments saying how this song and is boring, and how SM needs to focus on making catchy songs, and I really disagree. These catchy songs you're talking about I'd assume are like Fantastic Baby, Gee and so on, and I really don't think it would be a good idea to stick with that concept for every song. It's generic, and I prefer versatility in music by far. I see many boy groups pull off the calm/creepy concept, and I was really happy to see that Red Velvet did something in that direction. I'm starting to get tired of girl groups doing the exact same concept (sexy, but cute), I'm craving something new. And don't call this song cheap for being a calm R&B type of song.

안무빼고 그냥 보컬로만 들어도 정말 훌륭한 R&B, 소울이 풍부한 곡. 전 이곡 때문에 레벨에 입덕했습니다. 웬디의 보컬은 설명이 필요없고, 슬기의 보컬에 솔직히 놀라웠던 곡. "이미 깊게 빠진 꿈처럼 내게 올순 없어" 부분에서 차창밖에서 보는 슬기의 모습과 보컬이 너무 찰떡 궁합이라 너무 인상적인...벨벳도 잘하니까 좋아하지 않을수가 없어요...ㅜㅜ

honestly THIS is still one of their best, if not the BEST song of Red Velvet! it is so classy and timeless and it will never get boring. Kingdom Come to me has similar vibes, but will never give me the same satisfaction Automatic gives. It's absolutely a great song not only because of it's simple yet powerful r&b sound, but the wonderful harmonization, vocals and visuals of our girls make it complete.

I love the trip hop/R&B/Jazz fusion going on. Has a very Lo-Fi sound but still contemporary and Lounge effect. Absolute masterpiece along with their cover of Be Natural by S.E.S.

The fact that people are forgetting is that when this originally came out in 2015, girl groups in Korea weren’t doing this type of concept AT ALL. The fact that Red Velvet was bold enough to showcase this type of versatility while they were still considered “rookies”? Let alone even a year old? The K-Pop world was probably shook by this group.

as a musician myself, this is why I love Red Velvet, not just simply because of the visuals, but most importantly also the diverse, unique, experimental music artistry. they're just different from all other groups. I particularly really admire their 'velvet' side (usually much more experimental & artistic, than just simply following the 'mainstream' trends/hype like all other groups), which in today's music world, it's only Red Velvet that I know that performs music genre/style like this. I'm gonna be honest, the way Red Velvet makes songs is amazing. They have both catchy pop jams and slow 20th century jazz, but they can immediately hook you with either one. They're like a drug; once you start, you can never stop.
